The goal of ASMA is to promote awareness of Asian & Pacific Islander culture by serving the community and fostering an environment where international medical students can develop culturally and professionally. In an increasingly global society, it is important to understand people from all walks of life. Developing both sensitivity and insight to the culture of Asians & Pacific Islanders is a positive trait that one should not just read about, but experience. By bringing together medical students of different backgrounds, we hope to create a better idea of the constantly evolving cultures through comprehensive participation and exchange of information. As future healthcare providers, we strive to combine the exposure of culture along with medically related and socially responsible activities. With an encouraging environment we hope that all members will develop friendships, knowledge, and understanding that will extend beyond the borders of one’s location and outside of the student life.

Thank You AUC for supporting ASMA’s Halloween Party!

The Asian Student Medical Association (ASMA) would like to send a big Thank You to everyone who participated in our successful Halloween Costume Party on Friday October 29th at Tantra. Over 200 students dressed up and impressed both the ASMA E-board and our 3 awesome faculty judges: Dr. Nash, Dr. Van der Waag and Dr. Shupe. We surely raised a lot of money for the EXPERIENCE cancer foundation, who will be getting the full proceeds.

ASMA would like to extend our gratitude to our surprise judges: Dr. Van der Waag, Dr. Shupe and Dr. Nash. Thank you for coming in with your lovely costumes. You were all a good sport. Your enthusiasm was truly appreciated and we admire your service to the AUC community. Also, to Mr. Shan Nanji for being a great MC and for your humongous help in setting up at Tantra. Thank you so much. And of course to our infamous DJ Mr. Ray Romero aka DJ Illmatic, thank you for spinning only great music.

Lastly, we would like to thank and recognize our contributors for their donations:
